  • Daesh executes over a dozen Ethiopian Christians in Libya

The Daesh Takfiri terrorist group has released a new horrifying video purportedly showing the gruesome execution of at least 16 Ethiopian Christians in Libya.

The 29-minute video, released on Wednesday, was composed of scenes from two different locations, one shot under some trees and the other one along a nearby seashore. In both locations, masked terrorists made the separated groups of victims kneel in front of them.

In a statement read by one of the Takfiris, the victims, dressed in orange and black, were described as "followers of the cross from the enemy Ethiopian Church,” who neither pay a compulsory religious tax nor convert to what terrorists call Islam.

Then, they executed those under trees by shooting in the back of their heads and decapitated the second group on the beach.

This is not the first time Daesh committed such grisly crimes against Ethiopian Christians in Libya on similar grounds. Back in April, another video released by Daesh showed terrorists carrying out two separate executions of some 30 Ethiopians through shooting and beheading.

The terror group has so far forced hundreds of thousands of Christians to flee from their homes in Iraq, Libya, and Syria.

Libya, where the military alliance of NATO helped overthrow longtime dictator Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, has been experiencing a power vacuum and is considered by many to have withered into a failed state. Daesh, which is mainly active in Syria and Iraq, has seized upon the chaos to fan out through Libya and seize control of its northern city of Sirte.

  • 100 USA Visas per Year for Ethiopia. Donald Trump Signs Executive Order

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has signed an executive order placing a quota on the number of visas to be issued by the United States Embassy in Addis Ababa to Ethiopians.

The executive order, which bans seven countries from visiting the United States granted Ethiopia only 100 visas per year. This means that the embassy is entitled to issue visas to only 100 lucky applicants yearly until may be a new government takes over to make changes to such laws.

Also, Ethiopians who hold dual nationality will be banned from entering the United States if their other passport is from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen — the seven Muslim-majority countries “of concern”.
A lot of attention has been on the temporary visa ban on citizens of the seven Muslim-majority countries, but the impact on Ethiopians is far more than previously thought.

United States visas to the lucky 100 people would be valid for only three months as a clause in the order requires reciprocity.

Section 9 of the Executive Order states: “The Secretary of State shall review all nonimmigrant visa reciprocity agreements to ensure that they are, with respect to each visa classification, truly reciprocal insofar as practicable with respect to validity period and fees, as required by sections 221(c) and 281 of the INA, 8 U.S.C. 1201(c) and 1351, and other treatment. If a country does not treat United States nationals seeking nonimmigrant visas in a reciprocal manner, the Secretary of State shall adjust the visa validity period, fee schedule, or other treatment to match the treatment of United States nationals by the foreign country, to the extent practicable…”

Given that the Trump order takes immediate effect, Ethiopians holding valid long term US visa are most likely to be affected.

Beyonce's pregnancy announcement portrait is now the most liked Instagram post of all time. But who is the artist behind the image?

The photo of Beyonce wearing a veil and cradling her stomach has now been liked over eight million times.

This might not be a big deal for the 35-year-old singer. But it's a huge accomplishment for Awol Erizku, the artist who took the famous photo - and the entire series of pregnancy photos that Beyonce has since uploaded to her website.

Here are five things you should know about him

    Who is he?

Born in Ethiopia, 28-year-old Awol grew up in the South Bronx area of New York.

In 2014, he graduated from Yale University with a masters in fine art and his work often fuses photography, video installations and sculpture.

And while he's now responsible for the most liked picture on Instagram, A

He has a strange way of using social media to share his work

If you've tried to find more of his work on Instagram after seeing his portrait of Beyonce, you probably know already that his page is closed for business.

The 28-year-old treats his Instagram account like an art gallery, where he hosts Instagram-only art shows.

For example, his account has detail about "gallery" opening hours: timings for when his feed is opened up for public viewing.

He combines his art with music

With each of his exhibitions, Awol has released what he calls a conceptual mixtape.

Think of this as a kind of soundtrack to the artist's latest creations.

One of Awol's most played mixes was released alongside a film and photo project called Serendipity, which was a response to the Black Lives Matter movement in America.

wol has a humble following on his own social media accounts.
